Jan Wachowski was born 23rd of December 1998 in Warsaw.
He completed his master studies in piano in 2022 and bachelor studies in composition in 2021 at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Currently he continues his master studies in chamber piano department with Konrad Skolarski at the same university.
He participated in piano master courses, including period instruments with: Nikolai Demidenko, Pavel Gililov, Philip Giusiano, Sofia Gulyak, Dina Joffe, Kevin Kenner, Tobias Koch and Wojciech Świtała.
He performed in: Belgium, China, Germany, Italy, Norway and Poland.
He gave recitals at: Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall, Szczecin Philharmonic, Białystok Opera and Philharmonic, Gorzów Philharmonic, House of Fryderyk Chopin Birthplace in Żelazowa Wola, Teatro Rossini in Barii in Italy, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Hall in Katowice and international music festivals including 69th International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój.
As a soloist of orchestra, he collaborated with Rune Bergmann and International Symphonic Lutoslawski Youth Orchestra (ILYO), Piotr Sułkowski and Fryderyk Chopin University Orchestra, Adam Klocek and Kalisia Philharmonic Orchestra, Marek Moś and Juventus Orchestra and Szczecin Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
He recorded for Polish Television (TVP3) and Polish Radio for You (RDC).
He received Bechstein Prize in 2020 and “Young Poland” – prestigious scholarship of Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2021.
His most important pianistic achievements include:
- at the age of 19, 1st prize in category up to 37 years old pianists at the 21st Pietro Argento International Piano Competition in Italy, the youngest pianist ever to be awarded in that category),
- 2nd prize at the 3rd International Competition of Polish Music in Rzeszów, -5th prize at 49th Fryderyk Chopin National Piano Competition in Warsaw,
- 2nd prize and Chopin Prize at 4th Theodor Leschetizky International Piano Competition in Germany,
- 2nd prize at 4th Fryderyk Chopin International Subcarpatian Piano Competition in Poland.
- Grand Prix and Special Award of Szczecin Philharmonic at 5th National West Pomeranian Piano Competition in Poland,
- 1st prize at 1st global online International Piano Competition of WPTA Music Alive.
He was also awarded at: 10th Nepomuk Hummel International Piano Competition in Slovakia, 5th International Piano Competition Halina Czerny Stefańska in Memoriam in Poland, Anton Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Germany and Orbetello International Piano Competition in Italy.
As a composer, his Piano Quintet was recognized as Best Piano Quintet at 1st International Consonant Music Composition Competition Cum Laude Music Awards in Madrid and has been performed by Daniel del Pino and Habemus Quartet in artistic season 2018/2019 at concert halls in Spain including Madrid Philharmonic.
His most important resent achievement is Piano Concerto, composed in 2021.
